I am trying to use my gmail account to send a newsletter to about 100 people. However I can't seem to connect to gmail. I'm using the following settings

outgoing server : smtp.gmail.com
use following encryption : ssl
use authentication : yes
username/password : same as my regular gmail logon
force use of specific logon method : no

The problem is that I think that for gmail I should use porty 465 for ssl, however I can't seem to change the port - it is greyed out and stuck at port 25.

Not sure what else to try.
I just moved Mach5 Mailer from an XP machine to a Win 7 machine and while emails appear to be going out OK, the silent logs are not being generated.

It is common for the time data in your log files to be recorded in an inappropriate time zone. To correct this, Analyzer allows you to add or subtract an offset to the hour recorded in the log file. This problem is common if a thirty party hosts your web site; the third party's servers may be located on the opposite side of the country, and in a completely different time zone. You can adjust the offset to any value between -12 and 12. The best way to determine the offset for your log files is to examine the times recorded near the beginning of your log file. If you know what time your web-hosting provider generates the log files, then you can just subtract to determine the offset. It may take some experimentation. Note that some servers record their log files in GMT time (which is 5-8 hours off times in the continental US).

To change the offset, go to the Global Options: http://www.mach5.com/support/analyzer/ma...ptions.htm

I'm new user which is willing to buy Mach5 mailer but got sent out mail display trouble.

I've decided to use UTF-8 since it's a better standard than Big5 which will conflict and less characters.

My Windows XP set the "language for non-Unicode programs" to (Chinese-Taiwan) already.

I've set the "default merge encoding" to UTF-8, copying a passage of text from Notepad++ to HTML tab (Notepad++ shows "UTF-8), I found Mach5 mailer fail to display correctly, Chinese (UTF-8) all display in question marks, typing the word directly with IME (input method) is better, mailer can display correctly, but when sent out testing mail to Gmail, Gmail display garbage.

At last, I'm forced switch to Big5, copying a big5 from Notepad++ to mailer still not working, solution is save the text in HTM format (charset big5 in Notepad++), then drag the HTM file to Firefox, use CTRL-U (view source), then copy the source to mailer.

I doubt mailer did not complie in full Unicode SDK from Microsoft, causing all this chaos, I need to buy Mach5 mailer since I got project of mass email, but this problem really scare me.

Please advise.
